Dominic started playing drums at the age of 9; his early influences were jazz and rock music. After playing with several jazz and rock bands he joined and quickly became percussion section leader of the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra. He also began playing with brass bands, winning the 2010 Yorkshire Regional Championship with Chapeltown Silver Prize Band in the Third Section and later progressing to win the First Section Yorkshire Regional and National Championships with City of Sheffield Brass Band in 2012. Meanwhile, Dominic began session work as a drummer and percussionist – performing in numerous function bands and professional ensembles – as well as teaching privately.

Dominic has studied under Peter Fairclough, Toni Cannelli, and Plinio Dourado, studying a wide range of genres to a high level of proficiency. He studied at the University of Sheffield where he was actively involved within the music department, performing in three final-year recital performances – all of whom received 1st Class marks in their performance modules.

Dominic specialises as a jazz drummer, performing with his jazz quartet 'Jazz Manifesto' and other jazz ensembles. He is also a proficient sight reader, performing in numerous stage shows, orchestras, and brass bands.  

 

Dominic also works as a Musical Director, leading the Sheffield University Big Band between 2013 - 2017 and being Musical Director of Sheffield University Performing Arts Society’s production of ‘Footloose’ in April 2015. He is the Musical Director of the Montgomery Theatre Summer Project, most recently performing High School Musical in August 2019.

Dominic released his debut single 'El Baile (No, Thanks For Asking)' in August 2020, producing under the name Dominic Miles. On this record, Dominic showcases his skills as a writer, musician, and producer.

Dominic was brought up performing live and quickly became to be known as a diverse and versatile player, comfortable with all styles of music. He is currently working as a freelance drummer, percussionist, DJ and musical director.
